Web Design

This year, one of my main goals as EIC was to redesign the website. I felt that it was previously too crowded, with most stories mostly on the side of the recent article. This didn't allow readers to really see our staff's amazing photos and graphics and be enticed to read. Additionally, I wanted to be sure that the different sections of the website weren't crowded by the additional information bar below, so we condensed all of that information into an "about" section and deleted that bar.

Our website last year, before the changes:

We also changed our sections of the website from being vertically presented to horizontal so that the website wouldn't be an overly long scroll, designed to stop overwhelming viewers with choice. Similar to previous choices, this also allowed for a better view of featured photos.

These were some of my ideas from over the summer for how to improve both the design of the website and increasing web coverage.
